Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a role-playing video game developed by Tactical Adventures and released in 2021.
It is based on the 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons rules, which it uses via the System Reference Document.
I am currently playing through the campaign that comes along with the original game. Currently, I believe I am about 75% of the way through the first campaign.
The game is based on D&D 5e and the campaign is for 4 characters. You can use the pre-generated characters made by the game or make your own.
I decided to make my own characters. One is a half-elf redemption paladin. The second is a cleric of life hill dwarf worshipping the god Einar.
(one of the custom gods the game includes).
The third one is a high elf darkweaver rogue(game original subclass). The last one is a human lore wizard.
My thoughts so far:
The game has been fun so far. It has faithfully adapted the ruleset of 5e D&D and has added on it through custom sublasses, new rules, etc.
The story is well thought out, and the systems within the game function well.
The game also allows you to customize how your character acts and sounds by asking you what voice you want to give them and asking you what character traits they have.
All the selections you make with your characters traits actually affect how they act in dialogue options in-game. Which has been fun the watch unfold.
Overall the game so far has been fun to play and gives you an example of what a good D&D video game should be.
The game has also added DLC that adds more classes, races, and campaigns for you to play.
